Lavender, deer, and Dalby

Over October Half-term holidays (school break for non-UK readers) the family Gibson went on a few days out, one was to Lavender farm in North Yorkshire, in the middle of nowhere is a farm for Lavender. As well as being able to order Lavender tea (which creates Lavender burps) you can also see their hungry deer!

Then we went to the awesome Dalby Forest for a nice walk with the stunningly vivid Autumn leaves.

So as normal everything was shot on my Nikon D3000 with a 18-55mm or 55- 200mm lens and taken in RAW. Processed using ViewNX2.

Coming next a few shots from Illuminate York.

Much love

If you go down to the woods today…

Recently we wrapped our darling daughter in more layers than a particular complex character in a BBC Drama and made our way over to Dalby Forrest in North Yorkshire. The following images are taken by me other than the one of me taken by Mairi, I love the Autumn colours in the trees and Bobbie’s face really says ‘can we go home now’ in the one of just her, as normal it’s all on Flickr so click an image and enjoy.

So this is the end of my Camera for 2010 (although some goes into 2011), for this post a few things have come to pass, firstly RAW processing has become a part of my photography. For those who can’t be bothered clicking the wiki link basically my camera has been set to take around 4 times more information than a normal photo meaning that I have more infomation to play with which is a real eye opener. So all of these photo’s have only had raw processing stuff done to them and not a single photoshop design file has been opened.

Second change… Gibson has a FlickR pro account which means I can do a nice  stuff like below – click on one of thoose images and you can see them on FlickR.

Now the photograph’s are mainly on the river Ouse when it has completely frozen over on Christmas Eve, the others are taken when me and Mrs G went walking in Dalby Forest and in Thixendale. Enjoy and let me know what you think. Also check out what happens when you throw a bag of rock salt into a frozen river…
